Following the events of the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, "Raditz", Goku's long-lost brother, appears on Earth and reveals Goku's true Saiyan heritage. Raditz informs Goku that he's a Saiyan warrior sent to conquer Earth, but due to a head injury, he lost his memory and became a kind-hearted person. Raditz attempts to recruit Goku to join him in his conquering mission, but Goku refuses. In order to force Goku's compliance, Raditz kidnaps his son "Gohan". Goku teams up with his former arch-enemy "Piccolo" to confront Raditz, and after a fierce battle, Goku sacrifices himself to hold Raditz in place, allowing Piccolo to use his powerful Special Beam Cannon technique, which kills them both. Before Raditz's death though, he reveals that two more Saiyans, "Vegeta" and "Nappa" are on their way to Earth, and are even stronger than he is. With Goku now dead and training in other world, the Z Fighters must survive until his return in one year to battle the Saiyans. Will this challenge prove to be more than our heroes can handle?
