Why the Warner Bros. CENSORED ELEVEN Cartoons Will Probably Never Be Seen Again

Many things like racist humor and violence can be easily removed from cartoons when they are only in a small part of the cartoon. Things like characters in blackface after an explosion or a car accident can be snipped out without affecting the entire short.

Unfortunately, with these eleven cartoons, the reasons for censoring were too extensive and any editing would have affected the entire cartoon. For that reason, it was just easier to take the entire cartoon out of rotation and pretend it didn’t exist at all!

That was the case with these eleven censored Warner Bros. cartoons. United Artists, the cartoons’ distributor, was convinced that no amount of editing could ever make these eleven shorts suitable for distribution, so they were completely removed from the syndication package in 1968 and have not been seen on television since that time.
